Eric Kleiner has long been dedicated to strengthening his community through philanthropy. He is well-regarded as a community leader and philanthropist, active in numerous local programs and charitable events. Throughout his career, he has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to giving back to his community. He has made a significant impact through his involvement in initiatives such as Tenafly Youth Basketball and co-chairing the "Play Fore the Kids" Golf Classic. This event raises funds to support children with special needs. He also devotes much of his time to supporting several other important causes, particularly education, health, and overall community well-being. His collaborations with organizations like the Kaplen Jewish Community Center in the Palisades and the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation are just a few examples of his extensive charitable work.
A Heart for Charity Golf
His involvement in charity golf has played a pivotal role in the success of the “Play Fore the Kids” Golf Classic, a fundraising event dedicated to children with special needs and autism. Eric served as the co-chair of this event for six years, overseeing its growth and ensuring its continued success. Thanks to his leadership, the event raised over two million dollars, significantly impacting many children's and their families' lives. However, his role went far beyond that of a mere organizer; his passion for golf and desire to make a difference allowed him to connect people from various walks of life. The tournament became a platform for community leaders, families, and local businesses to unite, support a great cause, and foster relationships far beyond the event.
Through his work on this charity golf tournament, he demonstrated how a love for something as personal as golf can be transformed into an opportunity to positively affect others. The event's success is a testament to his ability to unite people to pursue a common goal while fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
A Leader in Youth Basketball
He has also impacted youth sports, particularly through his work with Tenafly Youth Basketball. As league president, he oversaw the organization's growth, serving over 500 children. His leadership has ensured that the league provides basketball skills and life lessons such as teamwork, resilience, and responsibility. Eric has always believed that sports have the power to teach valuable lessons, and he has made sure that Tenafly Youth Basketball does more than provide athletic training.
One of Eric’s proudest achievements is his role in establishing the Challenger Program within Tenafly Youth Basketball. This program was designed specifically for children with special needs, allowing them to participate in organized basketball. Through his advocacy and leadership, he has ensured that children with a wide range of abilities can enjoy the benefits of sports. His work has allowed these children to build self-confidence, improve their social skills, and experience the joy of being part of a team. He firmly believes that sports should be accessible to all children, regardless of their abilities.
Giving Back Through Philanthropy
His charitable work extends far beyond his involvement in golf and youth basketball. His philanthropic efforts encompass a variety of causes, including health, education, and community support. One cause that is especially close to his heart is his work with the Kaplen Jewish Community Center (JCC) on the Palisades. Eric has worked closely with the JCC to ensure that the center remains a vital resource for needy families. His contributions have helped fund programs that support children, families, and seniors, ensuring that those who might not otherwise have access to vital services can benefit from what the center offers.
In addition to his work with the JCC, Eric has actively supported the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey. Through his involvement, he has helped fund initiatives that support local communities, ensuring that struggling individuals can receive the help they need. His efforts include organizing and participating in fundraising events to support the Federation, further strengthening his commitment to improving the well-being of his community.
Another significant cause for Eric is his support for the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation (DRIF). As part of his ongoing advocacy for diabetes research, he has participated in various fundraising events, including poker tournaments, to raise money for the Foundation’s efforts. He is deeply committed to advancing the understanding of diabetes and funding research that can help improve treatment options and ultimately find a cure.
Eric’s past involvement with the Windward School in White Plains, New York, has also been meaningful. The school, which serves children with learning differences, has benefited from his contributions, which have funded programs that improve the educational experience for these students. He believes in the importance of ensuring that every child, no matter their challenges, has access to a quality education, and he has worked hard to ensure that Windward has the resources it needs to serve its students.
A Love for Live Music
Outside of his charitable work and professional commitments, Eric Kleiner enjoys personal pursuits that bring him joy and fulfillment. One of his greatest passions is live music. He enjoys attending concerts, whether small local shows or larger performances. For him, live music offers a special connection between people, evoking emotions and creating memories long after the concert ends. He cherishes the experience of being part of a live performance, which serves as a reminder of the power of music in bringing people together.
Family First
At the heart of everything Eric does is his family. He credits much of his success to the unwavering support he receives from his wife and children. His family is the foundation for his personal and professional life. He values the strong family relationships he has cultivated, and these relationships guide him in all aspects of his life, both personally and professionally.
At a young age, Eric’s mother and older sister instilled in him the importance of service, integrity, and compassion.
